Uphill task as URA face red hot Bright Stars in bid to assume to table leadership

Siggy AINE

Following a shock Vipers defeat to Express yesterday at St Mary’s stadium, URA has a chance today to go three points above the Kitende boys.

Vipers who went into yesterday’s game as the favorites on the back of a fine form both in the past matches and against the Red Eagles fell short to a John Byamukama strike in the 64th minute.

Now the ball lies in the hands of URA who have been table toppers with Vipers on joint points 43 but with a lesser goal difference to start setting pace if they are to boost their chances of winning the league title for a fifth time in their history.

The game will take place today at 4pm at Bright Stars home ground Kavumba Recreational centre in Wakiso district.

A win will see URA move from 2nd position to the 1st on 46 points 3 above Vipers while a win for Bright stars could push them to 6th position displacing SC Villa that will be playing away to Mbarara FC.

Current form

Bright stars are currently an in-form team that URA will have reason to worry about. They have been able to win 4 of their last 5 games losing just once to SC Villa.

They have managed to score 12 goals and conceded just 5 goals.

URA on the other hand have won 3 games losing once and drawing one game. They have scored 9 past their opponents goals and conceded four goals.

This just shows how high flying Bright stars under coach Baker Mbowa could prove a thorn in URA’s hopes of ending match day 20 above the table.

Head to Head

Matches between these two sides have proved to lack goals as the last 5 games have only seen 5 goals.

Bright stars have the upper hand going into this fixture as they have beaten the tax collectors two times scoring three and conceding just twice.

Two games have ended in 0-0 stalemates and URA winning only just once.

Sam Ssimbwa URA’s manager obviously knows the importance of this game and will tell his boys to give it their all after his side drawing with SC Villa.

Team news

Defender Andrew Kaggwa returns from suspension but Mboowa will have to offset URA without Kisitu Nvule Jamil , Ronald Sempala and Sam Sekitto through injury.

First and second choice goalkeepers Wagima Benson and Godwin Buule remain sidelined by injury, meaning Simon Tamale will retain his place in goal.

For URA, Moses Seruyidde returns from injury whereas Joachim Ojera makes a comeback from the compassionate leave accorded to him for the loss of his uncle .
