Kenneth MUKISA

On a rain soaked pitch, Wakiso Giants subjected SC Villa and their new coach Petros Koukouras to their first league defeat at Kavumba Recreation Grounds.

First half goals from new signings Titus Sematimba and Moses Aliro were enough for the Purple Sharks

They also reached another milestone of three successive wins for the first time since their elevation to the top flight two seasons.

Sematimba’s first goal came in the 9th minute and before Villa collected themselves to find an equaliser, Moses Aliro powered in a ferocious non stop low shot thanks to the good work from Ibrahim Kasule less than 10 minutes later.

Sematimba completed completed his brace on the 24th minute, a goal that all but sealed Villa’s fate.

Petros Koukouras pressed the panic button by withdrawing offensive midfielder Salim Abdallah for Bayo Ali

The match went into the half time break with the visitors in cruise control.

Villa returned for the second period a much improved side with Koukouras handing debuts to youngsters Iddi Abdul Wahid, Umaru Lutaro and Travis Mutyaba.

Saddam Masereka also came in for Oscar Mawa but his proved a wasted substitution after failing to creating any impact.

Lutalo and Mutyaba combined to pull one back for the home side. The later was fouled by Fahad Kawooya inside the penalty area and the former converted the spot on the rebound after his first shot was saved by Derrick Emukule.

Villa will seek redemption from their visit to Wankulukuku in the Kampala derby whereas Wakiso Giants will host Tooro United at Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in Wakiso
