Bogere continues to shine as hopeless Onduparaka hand Bamweya first home win

Nankya Viola

AFCON U-20 star Ivan Bogere continued with his inspiring form as he guided Wakiso Giants to their first home win of the season in the absence of talisman Viane Sekajugo.

The young striker onloan from Wakiso Giants needed only 23 minutes to put Dougals Bamweyana’s men into the lead. It was his second goal since his return from international duty. The first coming in the infamous loss to Soltilo Bright Stars.

Bamweyana badly needed this result as a stress reliever and Bogere gave him the much desired relief when he tapped home Frank Sebuufu’s cross. Ssebuufu was making his debut for he purple Sharks.

Joseph Mutyaba’s men were clueless and couldn’t find an answer to Wakiso Giants who also held them to a 1 all draw in Arua .

The hosts held onto their lead and the match went into the compulsory break with the hosts in the driving seat .

Bogere turned provider in the 59th minute when he crossed for the usually wasteful Pius Kaggwa to extend Wakiso’ s lead.

Onduparaka’s Mutyaba tried to make amends in his line up by making a double substitution. He brought on Moses Okot and Malish Jamal for Noel Nasasira and Mahdi Ajobe respectively but these proved to be a wastage of time for they did not produce any telling impact.

In a move to protect his lead, Wakiso’s Bamweyana withdrew Joshua Lubwama for a more technically astute Lawrence  Bukenya with 15 minutes left on the clock.

Onduparaka’s final hope for a consolation fell to Julius Jangeyambe who failed to easily tap in a spilled over shot from Kabon Living.

That was the last serious attempt to write home about and Onduparaka registered their 5th away loss with Mutyaba getting his first loss since taking over from Vialli Bainomugisha.

Wakiso in turn got their first season home win and consequently moved 6 points away from the 13th placed Kyetume.

Onduparaka remain 18th on 24 points. Luckily for them, they host helpless MYDA on Tuesday 20th as Wakiso have a tough visit to Kitende against title chasing Vipers
