Kenneth Mukisa

Uganda Cranes head coach Jonathan Mckinstry has been sacked from his job with immediate effect, the Federation  of Uganda football associations confirms.

In a statement posted on the federation’s website, it has been revealed that the two parties decided to agree on bringing an end to his 18 month mediocre reign.

“FUFA has today reached an agreement with Johnathan Mckinstry to bring an end to his 18 months at the helm of the Uganda Cranes”

” FUFA would like to thank coach Mckinstry and his staff for the work and dedication to developing the Uganda Cranes during their tenure”

The news comes at a time when the Mckinstry’s future at the Cranes was cast by a huge shadow following his initial suspension from duty in March this year.

The suspension saw his assistant Abdallah Mubiru sit in the dugout for the final group C AFCON qualifying matches against Burkina Faso and Malawi form which Uganda only managed a single point .

Mckinstry was in charge when Uganda failed to make it past the group stages of CHAN in a group that consisted of Morocco, Togo and Rwanda.

He was appointed in September 2019, taking over from Sebastian Desabre.
