Egyptian Giants Zamalek FC were eliminated from the CAF champions league despite scoring 4 goals in 25 minutes against Senegal’s Teungueth in Cairo.
They needed to win and pray that MC Alger lose to leaders Esperance of Tunisia but then Algerians fought and drew the game in Tunis.
They paid for the poor form exhibited in the first 4 matches where they only managed to pick 2 points.
When they rehired Frenchman Patrice Carteron, he resurrected their Hope’s by beating Algers and Tunis but the resurrection came a little too late.
The top two places in group D were taken by Esperance and Alger.
