Former West Ham striker joins Djibouti league

Former West Ham striker Diafra Sakho has joined Djibouti Premier League champions AS Arta Solar 7.

While his contract details are still scanty, Sakho joins former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Alex Song Bilong who has been at the Djibouti club since the season.

Former Galatasaray and Cameroon national team defender Dan Nounkeu is another West African star featuring for AS Arta Solar 7.

Song confirmed Sakho’s arrival at the club via Instagram.

The Senegalese striker has been out of action since last year when he parted company with Neuchatel Xamax in the Switzerland second-tier league. 

The 31-year old played for West Ham between 2014 – 2018 and had spells in France with Metz and Rennes and in Turkey with Bursaspor.

He was part of the Senegal national team squad that participated in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Former URA and SC Villa goalkeeper Sulait Luyima also plays for Arta Solar 7 who won last season’s title.

They will once again have an expedition on the continental representing Djibouti in next season’s CAF Champions League.
