Nottingham Forest sign Kouyate

Nottingham Forest have further strengthened their squad with the additions of African duo Cheikhou Kouyate and Emmanuel Dennis.

Free agent Kouyate joins the Reds on a two-year contract following his release by Crystal Palace last month, bringing an end to his four-year stay at Selhurst Park.

The 32-year-old midfielder racked up 141 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles, while he helped Senegal to their maiden Africa Cup of Nations title in February this year.

Meanwhile, Dennis has been handed a Premier League lifeline by Forest after they signed him from Watford, who were relegated to the Championship at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

The Nigeria international enjoyed a productive first season in England, scoring 10 goals in 33 top-flight outings for the Hornets, although it was not enough to keep them up.

He links up with Super Eagles team-mate Taiwo Awoniyi at the City Ground, with the 25-year-old forward arriving from Union Berlin for a club record fee, reported to be £17 million, last month.

Kouyate and Dennis make it signings number 14 and 15 for Steve Cooper’s side during the current transfer window as they look to avoid an instant return to the Championship.
