Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis boldly claimed that he won’t sign African players unless they sign an agreement that would back them out of playing in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Earlier this year, the club had African stars such as Kalidou Koulibaly and Andre Zambo Anguissa appearing in the showpiece, missing club games between January and February.
Now though, De Laurentiis featured on a live stream with Wall Street Italia where he expressed his discontent at African players who feature in the popular Africa Cup Of Nations tournament.
“I told them lads, don’t talk to me about Africans anymore!” said De Laurentiis during live stream, as per Football Italia.
“I love them, but either they sign something confirming they’ll back out of playing the Africa Cup of Nations, or otherwise between that tournament, the World Cup qualifiers in South America, these players are never available!
“We are the idiots who pay salaries only to send them all over the world playing for others.”
