Tunisia aim to see off Mali after first leg victory

Tunisia will be targeting another win over Mali in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification – third-round – match on Tuesday.

This encounter is set to take place at the Stade Hammadi Agrebi in the capital and largest city of Tunisia, Tunis.

The Carthage Eagles claimed a 1-0 win over Mali in the first-leg match on Friday with Moussa Sissako scoring an unfortunate own-goal on the day.

Tunisia will qualify for this year’s World Cup finals in Qatar if they avoid a defeat against the Eagles and it will be their sixth appearance in the biggest sporting event in the world.

Coach Jalel Kadri will pin the Carthage Eagles’ hopes of defeating the West African side on Al Arabi star Youssef Msakni and Zamalek forward Seifeddine Jaziri.

Meanwhile, Mali are facing a mammoth task having failed to win at home and they will be hoping to find a way to overcome the Carthage Eagles in North Africa.

The Eagles will have to secure a famous victory against Tunisia in order to qualify for the World Cup finals for the first time.

Coach Mohamed Magassouba’s side will look to Brighton and Hive Albion star Yves Bissouma and Southampton FC attacker Moussa Djenepo.

Senegalese match referee Maguette N’Diaye will officiate the highly anticipated encounter.

The last time Tunisia hosted Mali was in June 2021.

The Carthage Eagles emerged 1-0 winners in an international friendly game at the Stade Olympique Rades in Tunisia.
