KCCA reclaim table leadership with slender victory over Mbarara city

Herbert Achai struck early in the 1st minute of the contest between KCCA and Mbarara city and his goal proved vital as it won all three points for the Kasasiro boys.

Morley Byekwaso’s men held onto their goal

The visitors came close to restoring parity through Solomon Okwalinga but his effort from a free kick forcing Derrick Ochan into a decent save. At the break, Achai’s goal separated the two sides.

KCCA FC defender John Revita made a timely block to deny Thomas Kakaire who had initially been set up by Edwok Ronald.

Revita was rested with just seven minutes to normal time and replaced by returning Filbert Obenchan.

The 13 time Uganda Premier League champions held on to a narrow victory which sent them back to the summit with 31 points in 13 games, two above Vipers SC.

The Ankole Lions stay 12th on the log with 14 points garnered in 14 games.

KCCA will next travel to URA FC on Saturday, 8th January while Mbarara will host Busoga United on the same day.
