BUL and Gaddafi share derby spoils

Viola NANKYA

Defender Richard Ayieko spared Isabirye’s team blushes when he found the equaliser and cancelled out Alex Kitatta’s opener for Gaddafi FC.

Gaddafi who took the lead through first half substitute Alex Kitatta, were destined to register a second successive win under new coach Peter Onen but a lapse in the crucial minutes cost them.

In a game with limited goal scoring attempts, Kitatta broke the deadlock with a brilliant finish following a well laid pass from his striking partner Brian Kalumba in the 58th minute.

The former SC Villa, UPDF and The Saints striker replaced Faizal Muwawu who couldn’t continue past the 26th minute.

BUL coach Alex Isabirye reacted swiftly by introducing Simon Peter Oketch and Ibrahim Nsimbe for Joseph Semujju and Pascal Ngobi to add more firepower upfront.

Ayiko’s moment arrived with five minutes left to play and ultimately saved Isabirye’s men from a derby defeat.

From about 30 yards, Ayiko sent a teasing cross that seemingly found it’s way past goalkeeper Ronald Mutebi into the net.

The draw sent BUL to the second place with 14 points, five behind leaders KCCA and one ahead of third placed Vipers.

Gaddafi remained 8th but moved to nine points from seven games played.

The Soldier Boys will take on Vipers in their next outing on Wednesday 1st Dec in Jinja while BUL will visit KCCA on the same day.
