Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Salim Jamal joins Pretoria Callies FC in South Africa

It has been confirmed that Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Jamal Salim Magoola has joined South African second tier club Pretoria Callies FC.

He was a free agent after Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman decided against extending his contract with them.

The goalkeeper made his debut for Pretoria Callies in their 2-1 win over Jomo Cosmos at the Tsakane Stadium last week.

Playing for Pretoria Callies makes him the third Ugandan goalkeeper in South Africa after Dennis Onyango of Mamelodi Sundowns and Chippa United’s Ismail Watenga.

Supersport United midfielder Moses Waiswa is the other Ugandan plying his trade in South Africa while striker Daniel Isiagi Opolot has officially parted ways with Jomo Cosmos.

Pretoria Callies was the busiest team in the transfer window having brought in more than 25 new players including 37 year old Zambian striker Collins Mbesuma.

They host their league games at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Pretoria and are coached by Joel Masutha.

Nicknamed ‘The Romans’, Pretoria Callies finished 8th on the GladAfrica Championship (second tier league) table last season.

Jamal Salim is expected to be action when the Romans host Cape Town Spurs at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Sunday 17th.
