Micho drops Okwi as Israeli duo is included in 35 man squad

Kenneth MUKISA

Milutin Sredojevic Micho has shockingly dropped Cranes captain Emmanuel Okwi and TP Mazembe defender Joseph Ochaya as he shapes the squad to battle Rwanda in the upcoming FIFA world cup qualifiers.

He has called nine foreign based players  concluding Israeli based duo of Fahad Bayo and Timothy Awany who play for Ashdod SC.

Bayo and Awany missed the opening two games of the campaign because of travel restrictions due to Covid-19.

Awany returns at the time Murushid Juuko is suspended after receiving a red card against Mali in the previous game.

Other players include Tanzania based duo of Khalid Aucho (Yanga SC) and Taddeo Lwanga of Simba SC.

Goalkeepers Ismail Watenga and Charles Lukwago, Moses Waiswa of Supersport United, Mustafa Kizza of CF Montreal and Viktoria Zizkov’s Isaac Muleme are the others.

There is no place for Joseph Ochaya and the team’s captain Emmanuel Okwi.

Aucho is expected to take up the captain’s armband in Okwi’s presence.

Uganda will face Rwanda’s Amavubi Stars on 7th October in Kigali and on 10th October in Kitende.
