Uganda Cranes earned a vital point in their World cup qualifying journey after holding a spirited Mali at St. Mary’s stadium Kitende.
Micho’s team were reduced to 10 men after 65 minutes when defender Murushid Juuko appeared to have elbowed an opponent at the corner flag and he recieved a second booking which saw him get marching orders.
Juuko had earlier on in the first stanza been yellow carded for a dangerous challenge on Ibrahima Kone.
Uganda who lacked momentum going forward, were shot of ideas when in Mali’s half and were reduced to long range efforts that couldn’t trouble Mali’s Mounkoro.
In reaction to Juuko’s red card, Micho introduced Innocent Wafula and Mustafa Kizza for Captain Emmanuel Okwi and Joseph Ochaya.
Steven Mukwala , Mpses Waiswa and Ibrahim Orit also came on later to replace Nsibambi, Karisa and Bobosi Byaruhanga.
Mali looked the likely of the two teams to break the deadlock the deadly Moussa Doumbia powering shots over.
They now lead group E with four points, followed by Kenya and Uganda. Rwanda sit bottom with a single point picked from Kenya .
Uganda’s next opponent is Rwanda with whom they will play a double header in October.
