Moses Basena returns as Micho’s assistant

The federation of Uganda football associations  (FUFA) has announced that  Moses Basena will be Uganda Cranes assistant coach as a replacement for Livingston Mbabazi.

The former Onduparaka and Mbarara city coach chose to turn down the offer on grounds that he had already agreed to coach newly promoted side Arua Hill, yet FUFA ruled that no local coach should be attached to any club.

” Uganda Cranes Head coach Milutin Sredojevic has named Moses Basena as replacement for Livingstone Mbabazi as assistant coach of the National Senior team.”

A statement from FUFA read.

Basena has been the coach of Rwandan club Sunrise FC until the end of last season.

He was Micho’s assistant during his first as Uganda Cranes coach. Basena was also an assistant to Micho during his hey days at SC Villa.

Basena took charge of the Uganda Cranes on an interim basis when Micho left for Orlando Pirates in 2017.

Uganda will be holding a camp in Jordan in preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the start of next month.
