The fate for Uganda football’s leagues has been thrown in jeopardy following the federation’s indefinite suspension of the 2021 season.
The news comes after an upsurge in the COVID-19 pandemic that has seen a dramatic rise in the number of cases and deaths.
These are the feeder leagues for the Big league which also feeds the Uganda Premier league.
The leagues were slated to kick off on May 25th but the federation asked the federations to freeze a bit due to the intensity of the virus.
This afternoon the federation came out with a shock communication that the leagues be cancelled due to lack of logistics and funds.
“Due to supervisory and logistical hiccups caused by the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, FUFA has decided to cancel the FUFA Regional Leagues for 2020/2021 season”.
“Efforts will be diverted to an early and timely kickoff of the 2021/2022 Regional League season”
The regional leagues are decided into 4 divisions which include Westnile, Eastern, Kampala and Buganda
