Express handed massive lifeline by KCCA captain Lukwago to seal semifinal berth

KCCA FC were only 8 minutes away from a hard grilled place in the semifinals until captain Charles Lukwago acted in the most stupid of manners to deny his team’s efforts.

Sadat Anaku had put them in the driving seat with a sumptuous left shot that Express goal keeper Denis Otim only marveled at.

His goal came at a very opportune moment with only 3 minutes left on the first 45 minutes.

Byekwaso’s men knew what was expected of them and it was as simple as frustrating Express and seal a place in the quarter finals.

Express were only limited to a fee shots outside the penalty box and the Kasasiro boys were close to redeem their season. They are already out contention in the league.

Byekwaso made a triple substitution in a bid to take more control of the game with the introduction of Bright Anukani, Charles Lwanga and Juma Balinya

Wasswa Bbosa also countered the move with the introduction of Ivan Mayanja for striker Mustafa Kiragga in a bid to add more speed going forward, turning Martin Kizza into the central striking role.

As the clock ticked down with KCCA in firm control of the tie, Captain Charles Lukwago did the unthinkable.

He slapped Express midfielder Charles Musiige in an off the ball incident and when referee Ali Kaddu got notified, he made no mistake but to point at the spot.

Martin Kizza converted the resultant penalty and sent Express into the semi finals. They join BUL, Vipers, Police FC
