She Maroons overcome Rines to clinch FUFA Women Elite League

She Maroons 1-0 Rines WFC 

She Maroons emerged as the winners of the FUFA Women Elite League after beating Rines Women Football Club 1-0 in the final at Njeru.

Millicent Mwanzi Namwembe scored the all important goal that separated the two sides.

The former UCU Lady Cardinals striker broke the deadlock in the 75th minute and emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with six goals.

Prior to the final, She Maroons beat Wakiso Hill 1-0 while Rines overcame Bunyaruguru on penalties.

She Maroons and Rines automatically qualified for the FUFA Women Super League.

The Luzira based side walked away with UGX 8M, Rines won 5M while Bunyaruguru and Wakiso Hill won 3.5M and 1.5M for finishing third and fourth respectively.

Joan Naggayi of She Maroons was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, Rines shot stopper Elsie Najjemba was named the best goalkeeper while She Kataka took the Fairplay Awards.

All Award winners won money prize of UGX 500,000.
