Bunyaruguru Girls FC and Rines Women Football Club became the first teams to book berths in the semi finals of the ongoing FUFA Women Elite League at Njeru.
To reach the semis, Bunyaruguru beat their Western neighbors King of Kings 2-0 while Rines overcame Dynamic SS Jjeza in an intense penalty shoot out.
Forward Norah Alupo scored a brace for Bunyaruguru to see off King of Kings who finished the game with 10 players.
Defender Florence Kaheru was sent off in the 43rd minute for a second bookable offense.
Alupo scored from the resultant free kick before making it 2-0 in the 63rd minute.
Rines goalkeeper Elsie Najjemba was the heroine after saving Victoria Namakula’s penalty to inspire her team to a 5-4 penalty shoot out following a goalless draw.
Shakira Nalule, Eva Nagayi, Florence Nakalule, Yuster Kayesu, Maureen Nakinga all converted their spot kicks for Rines.
Frankline Natumanya, Daphine Nalubowa, Sandra Nakalya, Aisha Namukaaya scored for Dynamic.
Rines will play against Bunyaruguru in the first semi final on Tuesday 1st June.
The other two quarter finals will be played on Sunday. Amuria High School will face Wakiso Hills while She Maroons take on Ajax Queens.
