Express FC and KCCA played out a goalless draw in the quarter final first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at Wankulukuku.
The encounter was between the most successful clubs in the tournament having won the Uganda Cup 10 times each.
Express came into the encounter as the favorite following their scintillating form that saw them win eight of their last nine games across all competitions.
Wasswa Bbosa’s men were the better side despite not creating a number of goal scoring chances while KCCA resorted to sitting back and catching them on the break.
Isa Lumu came close to scoring in the first half but his goal bound effort from a goal mouth melee following a corner kick, was cleared off the line by Musa Ramathan.
The Red Eagles kept on pushing for a break but seemingly lacked a cutting edge to break KCCA’s organised defense strategy.
Stiekrr Eric Kambale had his free kick from about 25 yards brilliantly saved by KCCA goalkeeper Charles Lukwago in what looked like the best chance of the second half.
Ssali Mashood’s full-time whistle saw both sides walk off the pitch with nothing to separate them.
The two sides will meet in the second leg at Lugogo on June 4th.
