Nine time winners SC Villa visit Vipers SC today at Kitende in the first leg of the Uganda cup quarter finals.
Villa are fresh from a morale boosting victory over Kyetume in the lead that saw them arrest a winless run of nine matches .
Vipers on the other hand beat Bright Stars in their previous league match to get back to winning ways after falling to Mbarara city .
The cup remains Villa’s and Vipers’ most practical chance for winning any silverware this term following their struggles in the league.
Villa suffered an embarrassing 3-0 loss to Vipers at Kitende when they visited in the league and they have also been shown two red card cards in their previous two meetings.
Vipers have not won in their previous 4 home games and they will hope to recover when they face Villa.
What the coaches say:
Fred Kajoba, Vipers SC
“We believe tomorrow’s (Today’s) match is very vital as we must return to our winning ways at home and also have an opportunity to go further. The last games here have been a disappointment but we have to go out with the right attitude and play like its the last match”.
Edward Kaziba, SC Villa
“We are prepared and raring to face Vipers. They beat us twice in the league and here we have to repay them in the same currency “
“This is our only hope of winning something and we are ready to challenge them over two legs”.
Team news:
Striker Mohammed Shaban may be given chance to play again after serving an internal suspension
Dan Mzee Serunkuuma has been ruled out of the tie.
SC Villa will welcome back Gavin Kizito who missed the previous two league matches through suspension after seeing red in Vipers’ latest meeting with Villa.
