Wakiso Giants came from a goal down to beat MYDA FC 2-1 at the King George V Memorial Stadium in Tororo.
Strikers Viane Sekajugo and Kipson Atuheire scored for the Purple Sharks after Eric Mutebi had put MYDA in an early lead.
Mutebi gave MYDA the lead in the 18th minute with a shot from outside the box.
Sekajugo equalized eight minutes later in almost the similar manner and marked his 13th goal of the season.
10 minutes later, Atuheire marked his return from injury with Wakiso’s second goal which also turned out to be the winning goal.
Atuheire had last played for the Douglas Bamweyana coached side early in April.
The win lifted Wakiso Giants to 7th on 36 points. They will shift attention to the Stanbic Uganda Cup where they will face Police FC on Thursday in the quarter finals.
MYDA are a whisker away from relegation having garnered 14 points from 26 games. They will automatically be relegated if Busoga United avoid defeat against KCCA on Sunday.
The Tororo outfit will join Kitara who are already relegated following their defeat to Express at Wankulukuku.
