SC Villa 1-3 Vipers SC
Vipers swept SC Villa aside to maintain pressure on league leaders URA who also won their game 3-1 against Police.
Yunus Sentamu, Bobosi Byaruhanga and Paul Mucurezi scored the three goals for the Venoms while goalkeeper Saidi Keni scored a surprise goal for the Jogoos.
Byaruhanga broke the deadlock for the defending champions in the 27th minute with a low drive following a goal-mouth scramble.
Sentamu doubled the lead five minutes later with a powerful shot from Mucurezi’s assist. His goal took his tally to 15 goals.
The league-leading scorer had a chance to make it 3-0 but Saidi Keni brilliantly denied him towards the stroke of half-time.
Villa were reduced to 10 men after Gavin Kizito was sent off by referee Ronald Kirangwa for fouling Ceaser Manzoki who was unmarked and heading for goal in the 66th minute.
Mucurezi brilliantly made it 3-0 for the Venoms with a well-struck free-kick.
Goalkeeper Saidi Keni pulled one back for the home side when his clearance went straight to goal with Vipers’ Fabien Mutombora off his line.
Vipers are second with 53 points, one behind URA and one better than second-placed Express.
Fred Kajoba’s men will host Mbarara City on Tuesday 18th May at Kitende while Villa will visit Police at Lugogo on Wednesday.
The Jogoos are now winless in eight league games and remain 8th on the log with 32 points.
