URA cruise past Police to maintain table leadership

URA were beaten by Kyetume at Nakisunga

URA FC maintained their top-of-table spot with a 3-1 Police FC at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje.

Steven Mukwala, Joachim Ojera and Cromwell Rwothomio were on target for the Tax Collectors who are targeting their first-ever league title since 2011.

Mukwala broke the deadlock with his 12th goal of the season in the 34th minute when volleyed from a tight angle following Arafat Galiwango’s cross.

Two minutes into the second half, Ojera made it 2-0 after he was set up by Mukwala.

Cromwell put the game beyond Police’s reach with a third goal after an Ashraf Mandela cross at the hour mark. His strike was his ninth of the campaign.

Fahad Kizito scored a consolation for the Cops two minutes to normal time.

URA have now 54 points, one more than second-placed Vipers and two above third-placed Express heading into the final six games. Both Vipers and Express won their respective games 3-1 against Villa and 1-0 against UPDF.

Abdallah Mubiru’s men are now sixth with 38 points accumulated from 24 outings.

URA will visit Kyetume in Nakisunga on Wednesday 19th while Police will host SC Villa on the same day.
