Busoga United take survival fight to relegation bound MYDA

MYDA FC and Busoga United will get Matchday 24 of the Uganda Premier League underway on Friday when the two sides meet at the King George IV Stadium in Tororo.

Both sides come into the encounter on the back of 1-1 draws in the mid-week. MYDA fought from a goal down to hold UPDF at Bombo while Busoga United were held by 10-man Wakiso Giants at Njeru.

Busoga will be hoping to enhance their chances of surviving relegation because any kind of victory will elevate them to nine points above the red line.

Abbey Kikomeko’s men are 13th with 26 points and will temporarily go to the 9th place.

Their hosts MYDA are second from bottom with 11 points accumulated from the 23 games played so far.

Busoga won the first leg encounter 1-0 at Njeru when both sides met thanks to Shaka Ssozi’s lone goal.

Kimbowa Shariph, scorer in the last game against Wakiso Giants, together with Ivan Wani, Kirya Jeromy, Anthony Mayanja and youngster Isma Mugulusi will be a group of players expected to inspire Busoga to a double over MYDA.

MYDA will bank on Ibrahim Nsimbe, Peter Mutebi, Amos Kirya and Paul Musamali in search for their first win in five games. Their last win was a dramatic 3-2 win over Onduparaka in Arua.
