Red-hot striker Samuel Ssekamatte extended his scintillating form with a brace as Soltilo Bright Stars beat Mbarara City 3-1 at Kavumba.
Ssekamatte took his tally to 12 goals this term, only one behind top scorer Yunus Sentamu of Vipers SC.
While Ssekamatte scored a first-half brace, defender Derrick Ngoobi scored the other and ensured Bright Stars complete their first-ever league double over Mbarara City.
Ssekamatte broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute heading home a well-delivered cross from Andrew Kaggwa’s well past goalkeeper Muhammed Ssekeba.
Three minutes later, Bashir Mutanda leveled the scores with a shot at the edge of the box.
Ssekamatte restored the lead with a finish from Joseph Janjali’s cross three minutes later.
Ngoobi put the game beyond question with a rebound from Ssekamatte’s free-kick which had hit the low post in the 68th minute.
Bright Stars are now level on points (37) with KCCA and Police who face off on Wednesday at Lugogo.
Mbarara City who are now 12th with 26 points, will play against Onduparaka at Kakyeka on Saturday 15th May.
Bright Stars will visit BUL FC in their next game at Bugembe on the same day.
