Vipers complete double over KCCA to keep title hopes alive

Vipers SC completed a league double over KCCA with a 2-1 victory at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

Yunus Sentamu and Milton Karisa scored for the Venoms whole Dennis Iguma pulled one back for the winning side.

The first ended goalless but Richard Basangwa had his superb header saved by goalkeeper Charles Lukwago while Karim Watambala failed to capitalize on Peter Magambo’s poor clearance.

Sentamu broke the deadlock with a stunning shot after being fed by left-back Aziz Kayondo in the 50th minute. The powerful strike was his 13th goal of the season.

A minute later, Karisa made it 2-0 for Vipers with a nice volley from Kayondo cross.

Iguma halved the deficit with a backheel from close range in the 66th minute but his goal only turned out to be a mere consolation for the home side.

Vipers held on to go to 49 points, two behind leaders URA who they will face next on Wednesday in a decisive encounter at Kitende.

KCCA are fourth with 37 points and will face Police in their next game on Wednesday.
