Proline cruise to Uganda Cup quarter-finals after double over Mbale Heroes

Proline FC joined the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter-final menu after defeating Mbale Heroes over the two legs.

The Lugogo based outfit won the first leg 2-1 at Lugogo on Sunday with Savio Kabugo and captain Noordin Bunjo scoring the goals while Jamaldin Buchochera got the consolation for Mbale Heroes.

To complete the double, Proline picked a slim 1-0 win in a game played at the Mbale Municipal Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Defender Ibrahim Ssendi scored the all-important goal in the 21st minute of the game. 

Proline were reduced to 10-men after Norman Kugonza got sent off following a second bookable offense moments into the second half. 

The home side failed to take the numerical advantage before they were also reduced to 10 men. Joshua Opima was shown red for unsporting behavior in the 72nd minute.

Proline who are also the last team to win the Stanbic Uganda Cup, successfully joined the exclusive list of quarter-finalists that has Vipers SC, KCCA, Express, SC Villa, Wakiso Giants and Police FC.

The tie between BUL FC and Kigezi Homeboyz is not settled with both sides waiting for the return leg date to be communicated. BUL lead the encounter 2-1 on aggregate.
