Fazila Ikwaput came off the bench to score the winning goal as Lady Doves beat UCU Lady Cardinals 2-1 to clinch the 2021 FUFA Women Super League title at Njeru.

Ikwaput used only six minutes to score the all-important goal that settled the contest which was destined for a one-all draw.

The 2017 MVP came into the final injured after suffering being stretchered off in the semi-final against Kawempe Muslim, sat out for 78 minutes before she came on for Joweria Nagadya and delivered the holy grail.

UCU were unfortunate to concede in the 29th minute after having a promising start to the game.

Elizabeth Nakigozi gave Lady Doves the lead through a penalty kick after Mercy Nabulobi’s handball in the box.

The Mukono-based side leveled matters through Sandra Kisakye who headed home the equalizer from Nabulobi’s cross in the 75th minute.

Soon after conceding, Lady Doves made a game-changing substitution by bringing on Ikwaput who was not even fit to play.

Ikwaput restored their lead with a low drive past goalkeeper Ruth Aturo in the 84th minute and got injured in the process. She was subsequently replaced by Olivia Birungi.
