Siggy AINE

This year’s CAF champions league quarter final draw sees former Uganda Cranes captain Mamelodi Sundowns take on Egyptians giants Al Ahly.

The sides that met in the 2016 CAF champions league final saw Mamelodi under their coach Pitso Mosimane triumph and Al Ahly will have a chance to avenge this defeat.

Al Ahly who are Africa’s Real Madrid have won the trophy a record 9 times, the more times by any team on the continent.

Pitso will now turn the guns on his former employees as he’s now the coach of the Egyptian champions and also won this same trophy last year with Al Ahly and will look to defend it.

The fixture will be played on Friday 14th May with Al Ahly hosting the South African champions first before a return leg down the Continent a week later on 21st May.

The other game containing a Ugandan will be Tanzanian giants Simba who take on South African heavyweights Kaizer Chiefs.

Simba where Ugandan international Taddeo Lwanga plays from visit Kaizer Chiefs on 14th May before a return leg in Tanzania on 21st May.

The other quarter finals will be between MC Algier taking on Wydad AC and CR Belouizdad hosting ES Tunis.

All first legs of these quarter final clashes will be played on Friday 14th May and the return legs on 21st May.

It will be interesting to see how these Ugandans fare out in these games and try to inspire their teams a step closer to the biggest club honor on the continent.
