Express’ goal hero John Byamukama has explained how the goal he scored in the emphatic win against the defending champions was so special to him and the team.
” I am very happy having scored my second goal for the club but it was a very important goal for the club since it brings us back into the title race”
A delightful Byamuka told the Club media
The goal also marked Express’ return to winning ways after enduring a winless streak of 3 games without victory, a patch that saw them nearly fall off the title chasing pack. They had played to a barren stalemate with SC Villa, drew 1-1 with Mbarara city and agonisingly lost 2-1 to Bright Stars.

However, URA and Vipers also failed to win their corresponding fixtures that kept Express’ hopes alive.
When chance fell to them to decide their fate, Bbosa’s men took it in their hands and beat Vipers to cut the deficit to only 4 points.
This was Byamukama’s second goal since signing for Express FC in September, after joining from Tooro United. His first goal was another sensational effort against Kyetume in the round 32 of the Uganda cup.
“This win was so special because it brought us back into the title race, we hope to go back, organise and wait for Onduparaka in our next home game so that we aim to go top”
Express FC will host relegation embattled Onduparaka on Wednesday 28th at Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku in their next league match
