Express endeavor to resurrect title hopes in visit to resolute Soltilo Bright Stars

Kenneth MUKISA

They are only 5 points behind Vipers and URA and they will have it in their mind that a win away to Bright Stars would easily bring them back in the serious mix for the title challenge.

A bad spell of two winless matches must be put on hold if they are to put the leaders under pressure.

However, Express FC will have to engage strong gears because the opponents before them are a fresh legged Soltilo Bright Stars who have enjoyed winning games with high scores.

In their previous 3 league matches, Baker Mbowa’s men have scored 9 goals, beating Kitara 3-1, Wakiso Giants 3-2 and MYDA 3-0.

Express will be buoyed by the return of experienced Cranes center back Murushid Juuko who completed his ban of 2 games after seeing red in the match against URA.

Head to head

The most recent 5 matches have been bossed by Express Fc with 2 wins and the other 3 ending in draws. Bright stars haven’t won any.

Express FC won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Wankulukuku, thanks to goals from Eric Kambale and Frank Kalanda. Augustine Kacancu scored Bright stars consolation.

Key stats

Only URA have a better away record than Express, having won 5 games and drawn thrice on the road. The defeat to UPDF at Bombo is the only one they have suffered when playing away from home.

Bright Stars at home have won 4 matches and lost in equal measure. They have drawn only once.

Team news

First choice goal keeper Edwin Buule hasn’t yet recovered from injuries sustained in a motor accident whereas his assistant Benson Wagima suffered a know in the 3-2 win over Wakiso Giants. Simon Tamale will keep his place.

The other absentees are the injured trio of Kisitu Nvule Jamir, Ronald Sempala and Sekitto. Andrew Kagwa will serve his one match suspension following accumulation of cards.

It is a perfect timing for Murushid Juuko’s return after serving his 2 match suspension.

He will swap places with Godfrey Lwesibawa who registered his name in the referee’s books for the 3rd time in the match against Mbarara city.
