Vipers’ comprehensive win over Busoga United marred by Mutombora’s assault on teammate

Sarah Kobusingye

Pace setters have cruised to a 4-0 victory of Busoga United this evening at the St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende

They completed their 3rd straight win over Busoga in a space of 10 days. 2 defeats in the Uganda cup double header and this one in the league.

That impressive rout however has been watered down by ugly scenes of goal keeper Fabien Mumbora’s assault on left back Aziz Kayondo when the final whistle had gone.

The two had exchanged insults at each other following a defensinve blunder in which Kayondo had been caught out of position which prompted his goal keeper reprimand him.

Kayondo refused to take the caution in good faith and shouted back at his commander.

Back to the game, Aziz Kayondo put Vipers in the lead after only 24 minutes into the game.

Yunus Sentamu extended their lead after rounding the goal keeper to glide the ball into the net on 47 minutes.

After 65 minutes, the home team were awarded a penalty following a handball in the restricted area. Sentamu flawlessly converted it to make the score 3-0.

With 5 minutes left to play, Milton Karisa making his return from a long injury layoff, registered his name onto the score sheet to make the scoreline 4-0.

The result puts an end to Busoga’s fine form vein of form that saw them win 4 games in a raw.

Vipers extend their 100% home run to 9 wins in 9 games. They visit Kitara FC on Friday 16th, whereas Busoga host Police FC at Njeru.
